of Heating & Air Conditioning Contractors BOARD OF HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING CONTRACTORS The Board of Heating and Air Conditioning was created in the interest of public health, safety, welfare, and consumer protection and to regulate the service and installation of heating and air conditioning systems. This Board is charged with the responsibility of licensing individuals who engage in servicing and installing these systems according to the minimum standards in the State of Alabama. Certified
contractors receive a wallet-size card from the Board, which should
be presented for inspection by public officials. No individual or
business should be issued licenses or permits to perform any heating
and air conditioning installation or service and repair without
current state certification. Contractors must meet continuing education
requirements prior to recertification. ALABAMA REAL ESTATE APPRAISERS BOARD The mission of the Alabama Real Estate Appraisers Board (AREAB) is to protect the public interest by assuring that all consumers of real estate appraisal services receive such services from appraisers who are fully qualified in accordance with both Federal and State Law. These responsibilities are accomplished by AREAB testing potential licensees, pre-license and continuing education requirements, investigation of complaints and disciplinary action against license. more information: ALABAMA BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS The Alabama Board of Medical Examiners has the exclusive power and authority to issue, revoke and reinstate all licenses to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of Alabama. The joint mission of this Board is to protect the citizens of the State of Alabama from care which does not meet the generally accepted standards of medical practice in Alabama. The Board certifies that applicants meet statutory requirements for license to practice medicine or osteopathy or as assistants to physicians; investigate and review complaints against practitioners and pursue disciplinary action, and establish and review compliance with continuing medical education requirements. more information: ALABAMA PLUMBERS AND GAS FITTERS EXAMINING BOARD The purpose of the Board is the promotion of the public safety, health, and general welfare of the people statewide by requiring persons to establish their competency as plumbers and/or gas fitters before performing or supervising plumbing and/or gas fittings. more information: ALABAMA ONSITE WASTEWATER BOARD The Alabama Onsite Wastewater Board examines, licenses and regulates persons engaged in manufacture, installation or servicing of onsite wastewater systems, such as septic tanks, to handle residential wastewater in rural areas where public sewer hookups and centralized wastewater treatment systems are often unavailable. The improper manufacture, installation, services and cleaning and maintenance of onsite wastewater equipment and treatment systems can contaminate and pollute the environment and pose significant harm to public health and rural environment. This Board establishes the qualification levels for those engaged in manufacture, installation or servicing of onsite wastewater systems and to promote proper manufacture, installation and servicing of onsite wastewater systems. more information: BOARD OF PHYSICAL THERAPY The Board of Physical Therapy is a licensing and regulatory organization created to protect the public from incompetent, unprofessional and unlawful practice of physical therapy. Laws are established to set forth standards for the practice of physical therapy, continuing education and testing, and to define the scope and limitations of practice.
